Monthly Mass for the Year of St. Joseph Vaz on March 19, 2017

The Joseph Naik Vaz Institute cordially invites you to join us and Cardinal Ranjith and the Sri Lankan Church in continuing the celebration of the Year of St. Joseph Vaz with a Mass on Sunday March 19.

The special Intention of this Mass is for the recovery of Rahul Pinto, brother of George Pinto, who recently suffered serious brain injury in an accident. George has worked tirelessly since the year 2000 for the canonization of St. Joseph Vaz.

Our monthly Mass is also being offered very specially for the Beatification of Ven. Fr. Agnelo de Souza (1869-1927). We invite you to join our prayer campaign that his Cause will be acted on very soon. As well as his Cause, we remember the Causes of many other native Indian and Sri Lankan candidates to the sainthood which we are publicizing on our website.

* This Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday March 19, 2017. The address is 11152 San Pablo Avenue, El Cerrito CA 94530. It is at the corner of San Pablo Avenue and Potrero Avenue, and a block away from the Del Norte Bart Bart station.

* Two of our Indian Jesuit doctoral students at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, Fr. Shantaraj S.J. and Fr. Fernandes S.J. will concelebrate and preach at the Mass. Indian Sisters at JST have also been invited to participate. St. John’s Multicultural Choir will sing. Indian and Sri Lankan hymns and prayers will be a part of the liturgy.

* Mass will be followed by a no host lunch at Aangan Indian-Nepali restaurant, famous for delicious masala dosas, vegetarian, fish, lamb, and goat curries. The address is 854 San Pablo Avenue, Albany CA 94706. Please email us at [email protected] if you would like to make a lunch reservation.

Our January 29 Mass was the first in a series of monthly Masses and events that the Joseph Naik Vaz Institute is organizing in the San Francisco Bay area to honor St. Joseph Vaz and our own indigenous Indian and Sri Lankan saints and candidates for the sainthood. Please visit our website www.josephnaikvaz.org for a report and pictures of our January 29 Mass.
