Through Intercession of Saint Joseph Vaz (1651-1711), Son of India, Apostle of Kanara and Sri Lanka
O God of Love and Mercy, we earnestly pray for Healing and Recovery from the deadly Covid virus that is devastating vast numbers of people around the world today.
We pray for the victims of this virus and for the families suffering the loss of their loved ones.
We pray for the courageous First Responders who are risking their lives in hospitals and clinics and working in at-risk jobs delivering essential services to all.
We ask that the Holy Spirit may guide our national leaders, and our medical personnel and health care workers to take the correct decisions that will protect our people from the health, social, and economic effects of this pandemic.
We give thanks for the dedicated work of scientists and doctors who worked tirelessly to make a vaccine against this deadly disease.
We pray to Saint Joseph Vaz, who cleaned and dressed the sores of the abandoned victims of the smallpox epidemic in Kandy in 1697, and provided them with shelter and food when they were left to die in the jungles. We pray to him, together with our Mother Mary, to intercede for us that we may regain our health and wellbeing and overcome this world crisis.
We ask this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
